In the ink

Wet-on-wet with photo ink and salt, worked with precision. The paper is wetted, allowed to dry back to the right dampness, and only then painted. The amount of water sets the pattern: more water gives soft, open forms, less gives tight, contained ones. Each ink has its own viscosity, so blue travels further than red, and colours are chosen and placed with that in mind. The work is guided by intuition and prayer, and carried out with technical skill built over years of practice. These six clips are from the studio; tap one to pause it.

Satyam Shivam Sundaram

From creation to dissolution · Kalamkaar, Bikaner House, New Delhi · 21–25 October 2026

Bikaner House, built in 1929 as the Delhi residence of the Maharaja of Bikaner, stands beside India Gate. Restored and reopened in 2015 as a cultural centre under the Government of Rajasthan, it is one of New Delhi’s leading venues for contemporary art and a parallel venue of India Art Fair. Solo slots usually carry a waiting list of about a year; this show was offered within a few months, by curatorial selection on the strength of the work.

“Here, the cosmic and the intimate exist together in continuous dialogue, each reflecting the other. The journey eventually returns to life itself, finding beauty not as a separate idea but something that runs through existence.”

About the artist

Bityogi is a Delhi-based abstract watercolourist whose practice explores the meeting point of science, technology and spiritual enquiry. Trained as an engineer, and with over two decades devoted to meditation and inner exploration, he approaches painting as a way of engaging with the movement between form and formlessness.

Grounded in his ongoing spiritual practice at Ananda, his work gives visual form to experiences that often lie beyond words. Working with handmade paper, photo ink, salt and water, he lets the materials respond to one another. Each painting becomes a process of discovery as much as an act of creation.

Works are signed Bityogi. Rishabh Kapoor is the artist’s legal name for acquisitions and documentation.
